Can you believe June is here? I can't-seems like just yesterday we were celebrating the new year. All our gardens are planted-both the big one we share with Pap and Granny and the smaller one we have at our house. Everything seems to be coming along nicely-including the good day and bad day squash.

 

This is one of my 'good day' squash plants.

This is one of my 'bad day' squash plants. Not much difference so far. Most of my spring veggies are gone:

• Spinach gone-either eaten or put in the freezer
• Radishes gone-eaten-mostly by me and Pap
• Lettuce almost gone-but still enough for another bowl of kill lettuce
• Green Onions still going strong
• Sugar Snap Peas-almost gone-mostly eaten by Peter Rabbit and the rest of his clan

I'm anxious for the summer veggies-but at least feel good that the gardens are planted and now it's in Mother Natures hands. I also feel pretty good that I achieved my goal of planting everything by the signs.

My tomatoes are tall and heavy enough with fruit that even with the cages, I had to put up a stake and tie them up to that after our heavy rains. The peppers are doing well will have to start staking them to keep them up during winds. The beans are doing well, I experimented with 5 different kinds will be talking about that on my blog joyoustomorrows. My basil from India growing well, as well as all my herbs this year. The watermelon and cantaloupe are stretching out and beginning to bloom, as well as the cukes. Planted two different zucchini plants, one round one traditional. The round is already producing. It is all good and this was a long comment. sorry.

time sure does fly when you have to get around by snorkel and fins. The weather is not cooperating one single bit. I am so far off schedule it isn't funny. But I perservere! Well maybe not with the whole sign thing, I'll be happy to just finally get stuff in the ground without it floating down the highway. But at least I plan to perservere with the garden and even the Market Garden.

Hey, Tipper! I finally got everything in the ground -- planting when I could. Still have lots of lettuce and asparagus and kale -- everything else in coming on.

I've always wanted to have a vegetable garden. My parents in-law used to have one in Greece. They grew tomatoes, lettuce, spinach, parsley, even cabbage and carrots. I'm toying with the idea of growing basil and mint in pots but I need to surf the Internet first and find some advice and tips.

Our garden is growing fairly good but we are so much later over here in Nantahala then what the rest of you are, but everything is always worth the wait. Thanks for all your useful info.

I had trouble planting by the signs, due to an early rainy time here, and now with little or no rain, everything is doing good.

We're still eating spinach and lettuce and broccoli.

We finally got some rain so stuff is starting to come up around here. My squash look the same so far too...Can't wait to see what happens!

Our first garden is so much fun! We are still eating lettuce. Last night we added the whole crop of peas (3/4 of a cup) to the garden lettuce, added some radishes thinly sliced and green onions. Oh it was so good!

Tipper, I can't wait for the summer veggies! I have cukes about an inch long, golf-ball tomatoes, and squash by next week-end. We have been really blessed with adequate rain this spring, and everything is going well. I bought a book by your friend,Peggy, on planting by the moon. It is very interesting! Thanks for this post.
