Have you ever been to the JCCFS's Fall Festival? The festival is always the first weekend in October. This year-will make the 39th fall festival-almost 40 years-pretty impressive if you ask me.
Just in case you've never been-I'll tell you about it.
There's lots of fancy footwork to watch;
there's the coolest artwork you'll ever see along with too many crafts to name;
there's Alpacas, horses, and other animals to see;
there's amazing music on 2 different stages;
there's more than a few people running around with blue faces;
there's friends-old and new;
and there's one of my favorite things-along both sides of the Festival Barn banners from past fall festivals wave in the breeze as you walk under them. I love looking at the different styles of quilting techniques employed over the years.
The Blind Pig Gang is also part of the JCCFS's Fall Festival. The whole gang will be on the Festival Barn Stage at 2:00 pm on Sunday Oct 7th, and the girls will be clogging on the Festival Barn Stage at 12:00pm on both Saturday and Sunday (Oct 6th and 7th). We'll even be there on Friday night before the festival starts-The Blind Pig Gang will be performing for the Friday night concert which starts at 7:00pm on Oct 5th.
Live close enough to attend the festival? The Folk School generously donated 4 tickets for me to giveaway-so if you want the tickets-leave me a comment and tell me. There will be 2 winners-each getting 2 tickets. The tickets are good for which ever day of the festival you decide to attend.To be entered in the giveaway-all you have to do is leave a comment on this post. The giveaway will close on Thursday September 27.
Jump over to Carolina Crafting and double your chances of winning a ticket-Jackie is giving tickets to the festival away too-all you have to do is leave her a comment to enter!

I would love tickets to The John Cambell Folk School's Fall Festival! By the way you make some of the best pickled beans and corn that I have ever eaten. I'm trying to make them like yours but I never get them just right :-)

Is that Katie and Corie in the Fall Festival poster? Many Happy Birthday wishes!!!

Delores-I'm guessing that's Chitter feet. I figure my chances are 50/50 unless it's one of each, then my odds are 100%.

I'LL FLY AWAY
NEARER MY GOD TO THEE
ON HEAVEN'S BRIGHT SHORE

My son and daughter in law are coming from Ohio that weekend and she is thrilled about going to the festival.

Tipper,
I cannot plan in advance anymore due to wellness, sickness, appointments, disappointments, scans, fans, no gas, high gas, low gas, passed gas..wait a minute!!..I got carried away...Mainly, the excuse is, Tennessee football!!..Yep, there is hope for them again...at least my family of men thinks so!!..
But, I will be there in my spirits, uhhh, in spirit, (I don't imbibe the stump water for feetball games, hic!) So if you feel a double chill and hear an iceberg like crash..Hit might just be me and ole Ed bumping in to each other while trying to dance with the gang to the Egan's Polka!
Have a great time...I just love, love that poster...I will be praying for a warmish, sunny, beautiful Fall weekend for you all...
Thanks Tipper, If I should win, that is if'n you care to put my name in the pot...Give them to someone, say that lady that has had so much sickness...I've been there, done that...No fun a'tall...

Sounds and looks like some great excitment for the weekend. I wish you lots of good luck and fun. I live too far to join in the fun, but I can't wait to hear how things went and what great things showcased. I also love the dancing feet - are they Chitter or Chatter?

I'm so looking forward to the festival this year!
I love the old ways represented there, like spinning, weaving, wood work, iron work and too many more to name.
One of my favorites is the hand made knives. There are usually at least two vendors with knives that the hand made. The handles are various woods and bones. Their balance is perfect and they fit your hand like a glove. The Deer Hunter and I usually spend some time at those tables fondling them.
The very most important part of the festival for me is seeing my granddaughters sing and dance and the Blind Pig performing.
It will be a great weekend!

It sounds like fun and I believe that I may attend, but since I can not be sure, I will not be asking you to place my name in the ticket hat. Hope to see you there! :)

Tipper...send your folks over to www.carolinacrafting.com. I've got tickets to give away, too. They can double their chance to win. I love Fall Festival. Hope I can get over to here the Blind Pig gang perform.

I wish you the very best as you participate in and enjoy the Folk Festival. Don't include me in the drawing, because it's so close to the wedding of my granddaughter Christie that we'll be making all the last-minute preparations for her big day! But I know those who attend will certainly enjoy the festival. I have never been to John C. Campbell Folk School that I didn't enjoy just being there, looking around, and enjoying the programs offered. It has meant so much to so many people through the years--not only the fall festival but the teaching offered, and just the "spirit" of keeping our mountain way of life alive and well.

We would love to go, so here's my comment. We would love to go.

I live too far away to make it. If I win though, I would send my daughter and family. They live in Kannapolis and could make it, rake some pictures and make me feel like I was there :)

Those Alpacas look sorta like deers in fur coats. You had better make the Deer Hunter leave his weapons at home.

I will be there in spirit only. If you feel a sudden chill, that might just me.

This sounds like so much fun, while I can't attend I have a friend in Murphy that would love to go. Due to illness this past year is unable to spend the extra money for tickets. Please add me to the list and I will gift them to her if I win.
Tipper, I would love to attend and see the girls dance and you all sing again.

You can count on some Swain County folks being there to take a big swaller of that fine Blind Pig Gang 2012 vintage wine. We're really looking forward to it.

Just spent a glorious week on the campus of the folk school. I'm anxious to attend the craft festival in a couple of weeks. Would love to win a couple of tickets as a gift to my sister who gave me the week as a generous gift.
