There are so many Christmas songs that I love-but if I had to narrow it down Oh Little Town Of Bethlehem would for sure be in my top 5 list. I found this short video that tells the history of the song.

Of course my favorite version of Oh Little Town Of Bethlehem-is by Pap and Paul. You've probably already noticed it yourself-it's the first song on the music player.

One of my favorites is "I Wonder as I Wander". I very much enjoyed the history you shared of that song here on Blind Pig a couple of years ago.

This was very interesting! I never thought to check the history of early Christmas songs. I think my favorite religious one is Silent Night. My parents used to sing it in German when I was a little girl. Rudolph has great memories for me as I was in dancing school when it came out, and my tap class did a special dance to its music. I have the original record - 78 rpm.

Have you heard "Mary Did You Know." It ain't old. It ain't a classic yet. But its words contain the whole meaning of Christmas. Especially the phrase "This child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you"

I'll agree with Bradley. Silent Night is the King! A divine melody that has been sung in so many languages across the world. O Little Town of Bethlehem is one my favourite Christmas carols. Thank you for sharing the story behind the music.

That was an enjoyable video of
history, I learned something.
My favorite Christmas song is
"Beautiful Star of Bethlehem."
Last Christmas I asked if you all
could sing that song and right
away, I turned on my computer and
Chitter and Chatter brought those
tears of Joy, along with the rest
of the Blind Pig Gang. Thank you!

I don't know anyone who can sing it any better than Paul and Pap. Their version of Away In A Manger is the best! I've already played it twice today.

Morning Tipper,
Thought I would share that the town of Bethlehem in Hebrew means "House of Bread" and it is just 5 miles South of Jerusalem. The temple pastures were also located there for the raising of the "perfect" sacrificial lambs for passover and Bethlehem may also have been the location where the angles visited the shepherds. How appropriate that our savior Yehoshua Ha Mashiach was born there since he is the bread of life and the lamb of YHWH. Also, when he was riding the donkey into Jerusalem to be the perfect sacrifice without blemish, the sheep were being herded into the temple holding pin for passover - all the while the people were singing the psalm that David wrote for the occasion. Father plans everything ahead perfectly! :)

Tipper: Your favorite Christmas song is high on my list. Maybe "I'm dreaming of a White Christmas" would be my favorite - but I hope it does NOT become WHITE this weekend! We are going to Georgia this weekend for an exciting visit with some "HALL OF FAME" fiddlers! Am I lucky or what?

The Little Drummer Boy is my favorite.In the lyrics the singer relates how, as a poor young boy, he was summoned to the nativity where, without a gift for the infant Jesus, he played his drum with the Virgin Mary's approval, remembering "I played my best for Him" and "He smiled at me".

How interesting, thank you for sharing Tipper! I have always loved that song. One of my favorites is Silent Night. I always love to hear it but its even more amazing at our churches candlelight Christmas Eve service.

All Christmas songs I love. Silent Night is without a doubt the undisputed king. To me there is no melody that beautiful. It becomes more beautiful the older I get.
I enjoyed that list of songs but this morning there is no list of songs by The Blind Pig Gang.
